You may not think that you recognise Haldon Belvedere, but if you live in Devon or the Exeter area and have spied that white castle on top of the hills in the distance, it's likely you were actually looking at it! Being right up on the hill gives Haldon Belvedere the most breathtaking views as you will see in my photos below, and it has become quite a landmark. If you dream of having a real castle wedding, I urge you to go and take a look around this beautiful and unique venue!
The Castle and Grounds
The stunning castle speaks for itself, with it's large arched windows and traditional turrets. It looks just like something straight out of a fairytale. You can actually climb right up to the roof and look out over the countryside and city beyond.
The castle is surrounded by countryside and woodland, and in the Spring you get a carpet of bluebells. Around the back of the castle are beautiful gardens that your guests can relax and chat together in after your ceremony.
Inside the Castle
One of the iconic features of Haldon Belvedere is it's winding stone spiral staircases. They are just perfect for photos and are such a classic way to make your entrance into your wedding ceremony. If you are looking for an elegant venue, the interiors are timeless, minimalistic and beautiful with tall ceilings and wooden floors. Up to 50 wedding guests can be seated in the main room, ideal for a more intimate affair. You can get ready in the private penthouse upstairs before hand and retreat downstairs or outside for your cocktail hour.
As I mentioned before, the views from the castle are just breathtaking. You can see for absolute miles, and these photos were even taken with a mist hiding the horizon. You can really appreciate the beauty of Devon at a venue like this.
I hope you enjoyed having a little tour of this beautiful venue and that it helped with your own search, ideas or plans. If a castle wedding isn't what you are looking for, then why not take a look at my post on Georgian countryside mansion Kingston Estate over here
