Kingston Estate | Venue Spotlight

When I think of Kingston Estate, the words that come to my mind are: classically English, timeless, modern, elegant and seriously beautiful. If you are looking for a venue in the Devon countryside that has any of the above, I recommend that you take a good look at Kingston Estate. The Grade II listed Georgian house is surrounded by 15 acres of stunning grounds, and something I seriously loved when photographing it was that there were so many different aspects to the venue, which I will go through in more detail with some of my images below.

You can get ready upstairs in the massive bedrooms, then married in the Marble Hall or the gardens, move onto The Barn for your wedding breakfast, take photos together in the Rose Garden and later dance the night away in Undercroft. This creates different elements to your day without you having to leave or go anywhere at all. The estate is completely secluded, surrounded by rolling Devonshire hills and scenery, but is easily accessible via the A38.

The Mansion House

Can you imagine your guests arriving at your wedding venue and seeing this? They definitely know how to create the perfect grand entrance! You are led up to the beautiful stone mansion by the pristine mazed gardens, and those steps are the perfect spot for your group photographs later in the day.

Inside and The Marble Hall

One of the areas you can choose to be married in at Kingston Estate is The Marble Hall. It's tall ceilings and large windows can make the gloomiest of days appear light and bright, I loved how the 18th century house has clean and updated decor, whilst still maintaining it's classic features such as fireplaces, chandeliers and paintings.

The Barn

Separate to the main house, you can choose to hold your reception and wedding breakfast within the converted Barn. This means you can set up your tables long before your wedding ceremony, without there needing to be any switching around or hurry. The interior is modern and a blank canvas for your own decor. It has massive windows with the most brilliant veiws of the grounds.

The Gardens

There are so many different gardens at Kingston Estate. The Games Lawn is perfect for children and outdoor activities, when I photographed Sam and Naomi's wedding they had archery and there was plenty of room for it! The South Garden and Court Garden are lovely spaces for your guests to sit and relax, and my favourite of all was the 19th Century Rose Garden. You go through a little gate and it feels like your own private secret garden, I loved being able to take the Bride and Groom here for their couple portraits.

There are various Cottages, Stables and the Coach House tucked away in the grounds of Kingston Estate, which means that your wedding party can easily stay on site if they like, with their little bit of luxury for the weekend.

The Undercroft

Around the side of the main house you will find the entrance to The Undercroft. This is absolutley ideal for your evening celebrations. It's your very own private underground club and bar onsite, with a cavernous style ceiling and a great atmosphere. You can have your live band set up in there and get ready to dance the night away.

Linhay Barn

I loved this little nook at Kingston estate. It is perfect for those warmer spring and summer evenings and somewhere your guests can sit undercover whilst the evening draws in. The festoon and fairy lights gave it a magical feel and you can just picture your guests enjoying this space.

I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my photos of this beautiful wedding venue and hearing more about Kingston Estate. I am creating further posts like this one, giving you a little guided tour of some of my favourite and recommended venues that I've photographed in the South West. Hopefully this will help you find your dream wedding venue or give you a few ideas for your day!
